Reddit Makes Coldplay Album Cover Art As A Joke And Band Makes It Official

Reddit makes Coldplay album cover art as a joke — and band makes it official

Coldplay’s ninth studio album, “Music of the Spheres,” was released on Oct. 15.

An image macro of the album’s cover art, made by Reddit user u/Captain_Clam, went viral.

A Reddit user’s joke about a Coldplay album cover has turned into a reality. Coldplay’s ninth studio album, "Music of the Spheres," was released on Oct. 15 with an image macro of the album’s cover art, made by Reddit user u/Captain_Clam, as the official cover.

The original image macro was posted to Reddit on Oct. 12 and quickly went viral, with over 100,000 upvotes. The image macro features the album’s original cover art, but with the band members’ faces replaced with the faces of the characters from the popular animated sitcom "Family Guy."

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin saw the image macro and was apparently a fan. He tweeted a link to the image macro on Oct. 13, writing, "I love this." He also changed his Twitter profile picture to the image macro.

The band then made the image macro the official cover art for the album on streaming services. The image macro is now the cover art for the album on Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming services.

This is not the first time that a Reddit user’s joke has been turned into a reality. In 2017, a Reddit user’s joke about a Mountain Dew flavor called "Baja Blast" was turned into a real product by PepsiCo.

The fact that Coldplay has embraced the Reddit user’s joke shows that the band has a good sense of humor. It also shows that the band is willing to engage with its fans on social media.
