The Denver Nuggets are NBA champions for the first time in franchise history. The Nuggets closed out the Miami Heat in six games, with a 128-115 victory in Game 6 on Sunday night in Miami.
Nikola Jokic was named the NBA Finals MVP after a dominant performance in the series. The 6-foot-11 center averaged 28.8 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game.
The Nuggets won the first two games of the series at home, but the Heat took the next two games in Miami to tie the series. Denver regained the lead with a victory in Game 5 at home, and then closed out the series in Game 6.
