Florida Panthers One Win Away from Series Victory

Panthers Defeat Bruins 4-2, Take 3-1 Series Lead

Live Coverage of the Boston Bruins vs Florida Panthers NHL Game on ESPN

The Florida Panthers are one win away from advancing to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs after defeating the Boston Bruins 4-2 in Game 4 on Thursday night. The Panthers now hold a 3-1 series lead and can clinch a berth in the next round with a win in Game 5 on Saturday night.

Sam Bennett scored twice for the Panthers, while Aleksander Barkov and Carter Verhaeghe each added a goal. David Pastrnak and Patrice Bergeron scored for the Bruins, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Panthers from taking control of the series.

The Panthers took an early lead in the first period when Bennett scored on a power play. Barkov made it 2-0 later in the period with a goal of his own. The Bruins got on the board in the second period when Pastrnak scored, but Verhaeghe answered back for the Panthers just minutes later to make it 3-1.

Bergeron scored a power-play goal for the Bruins in the third period to cut the lead to 3-2, but Bennett scored an empty-net goal with just over a minute remaining to seal the victory for the Panthers.

Sergei Bobrovsky made 34 saves for the Panthers, while Jeremy Swayman made 28 saves for the Bruins. The Panthers outshot the Bruins 36-30.

Game 5 of the series will be played on Saturday night at the FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida. The Panthers will be looking to clinch a berth in the second round, while the Bruins will be looking to force a Game 6.
