Troubled Genius's Health Declines

A judge in California has ruled that Brian Wilson, the 81-year-old co-founder of the legendary rock group the Beach Boys, should be placed under a court conservatorship due to his declining health.

Wilson, who co-founded the Beach Boys in 1961 and composed many of their biggest hits, including "Surfin' U.S.A." and "Good Vibrations," has been suffering from a major neurocognitive disorder in recent years. The disorder, which affects the brain's ability to function, has made it difficult for Wilson to make decisions and manage his own affairs.

The conservatorship will give Wilson's wife, Melinda Ledbetter Wilson, the legal authority to make decisions on his behalf. This will include decisions about his medical care, finances, and personal life.

Wilson's conservatorship is the latest in a series of legal battles and controversies involving the Beach Boys. In 2013, Wilson's daughter, Carnie Wilson, filed a lawsuit against her father's manager, claiming that he had mismanaged Wilson's finances. The lawsuit was eventually settled out of court.

Despite his health problems, Wilson continues to perform and record music. In 2015, he released his first solo album in over a decade, "No Pier Pressure." The album was a critical and commercial success, reaching number one on the Billboard 200 chart.

Wilson's Legacy

Brian Wilson is considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. His innovative production techniques and songwriting skills helped to define the sound of California pop music in the 1960s and 1970s.

Wilson's songs have been covered by numerous artists, including the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Eagles. He is also a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Despite his personal struggles, Wilson's music continues to inspire and entertain people around the world.
